This autobiography is a wonderful story of a Holocaust survivor who, as a child, eluded the Nazi storm and who, as an adult, returned to his roots to reconcile with his past, further understand his youth ,and find a sense of direction. Including photographs and documents, ON THE RAFT describes the turmoil of an abandoned young Jewish boy in occupied France, and how he avoided the death camps. The story is unlike the vast majority of Holocaust books, as it is a survivor's account of a young orphan evading the occupying German military authorities, rather than a historic look at life and death in Nazi concentration camps.
