Publisher's Synopsis
Selected Proceedings of the 8th IWA International Conference on Diffuse/Nonpoint Pollution, held in Kyoto, Japan, 25-29 October 2004 It is increasingly recognised that diffuse/nonpoint pollution is a problem of great importance, particularly given the success of strategies to deal with point-source pollution. However, the strategies to deal successfully with diffuse/nonpoint pollution have not been established to the same degree: the diffuse/nonpoint problem still persists. The 8th IWA diffuse/nonpoint pollution conference therefore addressed various aspects of diffuse pollution, including the following: estimation of diffuse/nonpoint pollution loads, measurement methods, impacts on receiving waters, Best Management Practices, and methods of watershed management. After full peer review 36 paper have been selected for these proceedings, which highlight some of the latest research and most advanced thinking on diffuse and nonpoint pollution. These proceedings will be highly valued by environmental scientists, engineers, managers and government officials, and others with an interest in this complex and important field of study.
