Publisher's Synopsis
"High levels and wide distribution in foods make it difficult to track phosphorus intake or select foods for a balanced diet, while attempting to minimize phosphorus intake in CKD. Another concern to consider is that excessive levels of phosphorus in the food supply may also affect health of the general population with healthy kidney function. Addressing this concern for the health of the general population was the objective of a one-day symposium entitled "Current Dietary Phosphorus Intake: Are There Potential Implications for Public Health?", held February 26, 2013 and sponsored by the Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science at the New York Academy of Sciences. The symposium explored the potential adverse impact of high phosphorus content of the U.S. food supply on renal, cardiovascular, and bone health"--Introduction.
