Hommel, Saugetiere 224, lafst moge; taurus, die ihm an ursemit. Taum "stier anklingen, doch auf indog. Staura "stier der Starke) zuruckgehen (vgl. Aber Joh. Schmidt, Urheimat d. Indog. 7 (abb. D. Berl. Akad. 1890) nimmt fur got. Stiur, skt. Sikaret "stark einerseits und zaogog andererseits zwei ganz unvereinbare Grundformen an; nach ihm konnte hochstens das den Ariern fehlende Wort von einem oder mehreren der ost europaischen Stamme benachbarten Semiten entlehnt und dann allmahlich ferner wohnenden Indogermanen mitge teilt sein. So mochte ich mir in der That den Vorgang denken.
