Von der Masse der rhetorischen Lehrbucher, die die Schule des Isokrates im Anschlu an ihren Meister hervorgebracht hat, wissen wir nicht viel mehr als die Verfassernamen. Nur zwei Nachrichten gehoren hierher. Naukrates von Erythrae schrieb in starker Ubertreibung Isokrates die Einfuhrung des Rhythmus in die Prosarede uberhaupt zu (cie. De orat. 3, 173, Brut. 32, vgl.
