Feuchtigkeit befordert die Zersetzung der Silbersalze durch Licht wirkung, und zwar nicht nur die Farbennuance (s. Bd. I, Abth. I, S. 174 und sondern auch die Kraft der Copien. Deshalb erleiden auch gesilberte Papiere, welche an sehr trockener Luft oder im Exsiccator aus getrocknet sind, eine geringere, weniger durchgreifende Zersetzung im Lichte und liefern kraftlose Copien; es genugt meistens, wenn das Papier aus der atmospharischen Luft Feuchtigkeit aufzunehmen in der Lage ist.
