Reuchlin hatte schon einmal im Jahre 1519 die werthvollsten Stücke von Stuttgart nach Pforzheim bringen wollen, wo er sie im Hause seiner Schwester vor den Kriegsunruhen des Nachbarlandes ge sichert glaubte. Das schlug fehl. Als er aber, ermiidet durch Alter und Schicksalewandlungen, im Bude Liebenzell 1522 noch einmal Er. Holung suchte. Ist in ihm das Vertrauen erwacht, dass er fiir seine Bücher am besten sorge, wenn er sie unter dem Schutze des Markgrafen Philipp I. Von Baden in dessen Schlosskirche' dem Stifte zum hl. Michael, berge. Nach dem Berichte des Oecolampadins hat Reuehlin dazu seine Verfügung unmittelbar vor seinem Tode getro?'en.
