English summary: Long before the County Palatine of the Rhine was established in the northern Upper Rhine and lower Neckar River region under the Staufen, Welf, and Wittelsbach dynasties, they were already there: the Popponid dynasty of Lauffen from the Neckargau. Since 1012 at the latest, this dynasty managed the county in Lobdengau for the Bishop of Worms, among other properties. Prominent members of this dynasty include Archbishop Bruno of Trier (d. 1124), who participated in the negotiations between the pope and the German emperor in order to bring about a settlement of the Investiture Controversy. The counts of Lauffen exercised the advocacy rights (Vogtei) over the monastery of Odenheim in Kraichgau (which they had founded), the Ellwangen priory of Wiesenbach, and the foundation of Wimpfen-im-Tal, founded by the Bishop of Worms, as well as the branches of the Imperial Abbey of Lorsch that lay within their county. They were also involved in the founding of the Cistercian abbey of Schonau. A thousand years after the first mention of Poppo I, an interdisciplinary symposium was held in Ladenburg, the former center of the old county of Lobdengau, to commemorate the counts that were once responsible for securing peace and upholding the law in the Rhein-Neckar region. Die Grafen von Lauffen ubten die Vogtei uber das von ihnen im Kraichgau gegrundete Kloster Odenheim, die Ellwanger Propstei Wiesenbach und uber das bischoflich-wormsische Stift Wimpfen im Tal aus sowie uber die in ihrer Grafschaft gelegenen Filialen der Reichsabtei Lorsch. Auch an der Grundung der Zisterze Schonau im Steinachtal waren sie beteiligt. 1000 Jahre nach der Erwahnung Poppos I. im Lobdengau erinnerte in dessen ehemaligem Zentralort Ladenburg ein interdisziplinares Symposium an die einst im Rhein-Neckar-Raum fur die Wahrung von Recht und Frieden zustandigen Grafen.
