IN order to facilitate the use of this Dictionary it is necessary to make a few prefatory remarks.
I. The author, from a long residence in Kafirland, and among the Zulus of Natal, has had acquaintance with both the Xosa Karma, spoken by the Amaxosa tribes, who live in Kafiirland beyond the Eastern Frontier of the Cape Colony, and also with the zulu Karma spoken by the Zulu tribes in the Natal Colony and the country on its borders.
