The sections are subdivided into units on the basis of their dominant lithologic characters, but some of the subdivisions are rather arbitrary because of the mixing of rock types. The depths referred to are those of the total thickness of the Lisburns Group taken from the base of the section and recorded on the right of the stratigraphic columns in figure 2.
