Publisher's Synopsis
This report provides advice on provision, specification and construction of joints in-situ concrete construction. It covers both movement joints, which are intended to relieve potentially damaging stresses or strains, and construction joints, which are necessitated by practical limitations on the amount of concrete that can be poured, compacted and finished in one operation. Design considerations are reviewed, and guidance is provided on design and construction issues associated with joints. Of particular importance are the successful exclusion of moisture where necessary; the filing and sealing of joints; and the preparation of construction joint surfaces to ensure satisfactory performance.
