The Subcommittee on Oversight of the House Committee on Ways and Means has scheduled public hearings on June 27, 28, and 30, 1983, on the Federal tax rules applicable to private foundations. In a press release on the hearings, the Subcommittee stated that the hearings are intended to develop information to assist in deter mining whether the foundation rules enacted in the Tax Reform Act of 1969, without imposing unnecessary or unduly burdensome restrictions, ensure that only those private foundations operating for the public benefit enjoy favorable tax treatment.
