The House Committee on Ways and Means has scheduled a committee markup on October 1, 1987, of possible revenue options under the budget reconciliation instructions for fiscal years 1988-1990. This document,1 prepared by the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, provides a brief description (including estimated budget effects) of revenue proposals to be discussed at the October 1 committee markup. Part I of the document describes the revenue proposals included in the President's 1988 budget. Part II describes three expiring tax provisions. Part III describes a modification of the estate tax deduction for esops. Part IV describes an estimated tax proposal. Part V is a table showing the estimated budget effects for fiscal years 1988-1990 of the revenue proposals described in this document.
