In further authentication of the correctness of that which is set down in the following pages, it may not be amiss to mention that this history of the Greek and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, which I find myself obliged to hurry into publicity, formed origi nally portion of a work which was not intended to see the light for many years. It was written whilst the facts were fresh in my memory - whilst the words still vibrated in my ears.
