Publisher's Synopsis
Reproduces documents from among the records of the U.S. Department of Justice in the custody of the National Archives. A large portion of the collection consists of letters from individual citizens and organizations regarding lynching. Many of the letters are to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and also to Presidents Wilson and Hoover asking them to do something about lynching in the South. Other topics covered in the collection include discrimination in the criminal justice. system, voting rights, and employment discrimination.
