The decision-making process used in small animal surgery is presented in algorithmic form and is augmented by explanatory text. Alternative treatments are clearly presented. The focus of each chapter is provided by a diagnostic algorithm. This proceeds from the presenting of signs or symptoms through the decisions required to make a definitive diagnosis. The book is intended to serve as an aide-memoire for the practising veterinary surgeon and and suggests alternatives in approach problems in small animal surgery. Contributing authors were selected on the basis of special expertise in their fields, and each chapter represents an individual approach and judgment on a specific problem.
