Publisher's Synopsis
Secular Academia and universities have evolved since the enlightenment as centers of study and research undergirded by the enlightenment philosophy. At their Religion Department of the Secular universities, there is no place for supernatural events or miracles. This anti-supernatural bias pervades the secular academy and it consigns the supernatural elements in religion to the realm of legends. No wonder fresh minds who attend secular universities are unable to sustain their Christian faith without strong support from the Christian intellectual community and discipleship groups. The secular agenda is to present a secular view of religion. In this exercise religions like Buddhism which does not involve the supernatural is accepted as they are not affected by the anti-supernatural bias whereas theistic religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are attacked and rejected because of the same bias. In this book, the author discusses the quest for the historical Jesus and the secular alternatives which emerged linking Jesus worship to worship of mythical Roman and Egyptian gods. All these alternatives are debunked and the real historical Jesus emerges as the same Jesus of the Christian faith as described in the canonical Gospels.
