Adding to Reed's existing list of excellent walking books, Marios and Peter provide a guide to walks in the greater Auckland area. Included are walks in Auckland City, and walks including Hunua Falls to the south, Piha to the west, the Dome Forest Walkway to the north and Great Barrier, Kawau, Tiritiri Matangi and Waiheke islands.;Each walk is graded from 1-4, the grade indicating the condition of the track and its probable length. For example, Grade 1 walks usually take less than one hour and the tracks are metalled or even with only minor undulations. The authors make notes of things of interest to look out for and tell you what you are likely to see on each walk in terms of flora and fauna.
