Shirley Bell has been writing poetry since 1982 and it is now being collected together for the Special Collections Archive in the University of Lincoln library. This book contains all of her published poems to date. Shirley is a widely published poet, in magazines and anthologies, including Faber and Faber's "Poetry Introduction 6," "Six the Versewagon Poetry Manual" and "Anvil New Poets," which have featured large selections of her work. She has had 3 pamphlets published, The Wide Skirt's "Hanging Windows on the Dark," "behind the glass" as part of her 2012/13 MA in Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln, and "Poetry of Hospitals and Waiting Rooms" in aid of The British Heart Foundation. She has given many poetry readings including twice at the South Bank Centre in London, and she has extensive experience as a tutor and writer-in-residence for all ages from children to adults in higher education. She has been married to her physicist husband, Nev, since 1972 and they have run a plant nursery (cactus farm) together for many years. They have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
