When Timbrel's impending exile from the elves--her crime is her half-human blood--becomes a rescue mission, she sets off with an accused wizard, an ancient historian, and a warrior for help. Toss in a plot against the elven throne, running afoul of slavers, and a price on their heads, and mix well. At the same time, the dragons send Nayev to find any surviving offspring from a long-ago affair. While searching--or rather, while procrastinating--he meets the group, and is fascinated by this half-elven woman who continually surprises him. Elves and dragons are forbidden to mix. But she is only a half-elf, and he is much more than a dragon. When outside invaders attack, threatening the known world, does it still count?
