Publisher's Synopsis
Provides an in-depth look at the history of Soviet propaganda fabrication and meddling in foreign countries. Highly relevant historical reflection of themes dominating today's news cycle. Told in a highly readable and entertaining style, full of sardonic, humorous dialog. The author is a radio personality -- he draws you into his story with a strong narrative voice. The unique combination of dry Jewish humor and Russian irony makes for an engaging book. Author will be featured in an upcoming documentary Sex in the Soviet Union (release date TBD) directed by a Sundance-award-winning filmmaker (Chad Gracia). The film centers on the anti-Semitic show trial of Dr. Mikhail Stern, an endocrinologist and sexologist framed for bribery and sentenced to an outrageous eight years of hard labor after he tried to emigrate. The author was a witness to the trial as a dissident journalist, was arrested for his activities, and several chapters in Dancing on Thin Ice uses quotes from his notes at the time. Little known story of human rights work on behalf of persecuted Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Baptist Christians trying to emigrate from Russia after decades of persecution will appeal to the Christian market with reproductions of testimonials about religious persecution, photographs and statements from Russian Christian children, as well as lists of signatories in pleas to emigration authorities. Many of these people came to the United States. Door of Hope International (dohi.org) has offered to help publicize the book to their 10,000+-strong mailing list. Author has appeared on the 700 Club several times as well as Ted Koppel's Nightline, so we will be trying to get him more media appearances, including back on the 700 Club.
