Since it was founded in 1948, the Delhi School of Economics has produced among the finest economists and sociologists in India, several of whom have also achieved international acclaim for their work in those disciplines. This book comprises thirty-two essays by former teachers and students of what is affectionately called `the D.School'. The contributors were asked to reflect upon their years in the D. School with a view to achieving, via personal recollections, an informal and piecemeal history of a unique Indian institution.
