This first volume of a series on cytopathology aims to provide a comprehensive, practical guide to cervical cytopathology, with more than 300 colour photomicrographs showing the wide variety of cytologic patterns encountered by pathologists. Histologic presentations of many of the conditions depicted by the smears are also included to provide further information on diagnosis and treatment. Electron microscopy, immunoperoxidase, molecular hybridization and data processing are discussed to help the reader set up and use these new techniques.
