This practical tool is functionally similar to a self-assessment questionnaire. Based on your answers to a series of yes or no questions, it will produce a table of results supported by a graph displaying your level of compliance. For each negative answer, the tool provides a reference to appropriate guidance that can be applied to resolve the issue, usually from ISO/IEC 27002:2013, the international standard that provides guidance on the application of information security controls. While the Cyber Essentials requirements provide a mapping against ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC27002:2013, this is not comprehensive. More precise sources of guidance are therefore useful.
