Publisher's Synopsis
The TRON project is devising an innovative computer architecture on all sorts of levels, for the new computer applications of the 1990s. The project began in 1984, and has since achieved steady progress toward its goals. The role of CTRON in the TRON project is creation of an operating system architecture suited to multi-user applications such as large-scale servers, databases and communication processors, which traditionally have used general-purpose computers.;CTRON is designed according to the common design concept, terms and system call description formats of the TRON system. The OS interface specification specified in CTRON is made public and is available free of charge. The CTRON Interface Specification defines OS interface specifications. Developers can freely implement products based on this specification.;To increase the distribution of CTRON products as an OS conforming to CTRON, some items must be considered on design rules and implementation when the fault tolerance functions are incorporated.;This design guide explains how to design systems with the fault tolerance functions according to the CTRON interface design rules. It is intended for those developing OSs (basic and extended OSs) conforming to the CTRON Interface Specification.
