As he sets out for an illegal boat trip across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe, Baba faces a series of challenges and obstacles throughout his quest for happiness. Amadou was born in Nouadhibou, Mauritania. He came to the United States of America as a Fulbright Scholar and graduated from the Appalachian State University. Amadou is one of the first students from his country to write a fiction novel.
