Publisher's Synopsis
The main aim of this book is to provide a concise survey of the main economic developments in Continental Europe in the years from the end of World War I to the end of World War II. This is an area which is well covered in specialist literature but there are few general works which attempt an international comparison.;This volume seeks to offer more detail, especially on national experiences, while at the same time allowing comparative and international surveys of cyclical and structural change.;The period chosen covers the major turning points of the 20th century: the great economic depression and two world wars. Both wars resulted in redrawing the map of Europe and profound economic change within the continent and in terms of Europe's standing in the world.
