Inscribed by the author on the inside front-cover: 'For Frances Feddden, from her godmother, with love, Elizabeth, 16.7.69'. Laid in is a 4pp. typescript by David, with her manuscript corrections in green ink, regarding recipes for possets and syllabubs, either for an expansion of this work or another of her books. Latterly in the collection of David's editor at Penguin (and her literary executor), Jill Norman, and sold along with 4 further copies of the book, one with a manuscript addition by David regarding the use of Cassia bark in the seventeenth-century.
