Publisher's Synopsis
This report assesses the costs and benefits of the adoption in the UK of a harmonized plug and socket system based on the work currently under way in CENELEC, the European standards-making body. It was commissioned by the DTI and is based on the material gathered in the last three months of 1993.;The market assessment was based on a study of archetypal systems, for three sizes of dwelling and three commercial building types. The systems were typical of those that would be installed using current practice under IEE Regulations. Three different systems were examined: the current, typical ring main system using BS 1363 sockets, a CENELEC system using radial wiring and a CENELEC system using ring wiring.
