What is the common thread in all of this? Great if you guessed it, but if you didn't then this book will be very useful for you. It's the Core competence or the lack of it. DIY kits purchased from Hardware stores look very attractive however in the hands of the novice they do more harm than good. I know some of you might be using them with great effect but then what were you trying to prove. That you are multi talented and fix up household issues at ease and in the process save few bucks too. In effect Core Competency consists in defining the core strengths derived out of the inherent skills and training with years of practice that makes one distinct in that area of expertise. When we work on our strength we improve and move to the next level.
When we spend time on areas other than our core strength, we not only do injustice to others having those skills but also spoil our own precious time apart from realizing a poor productivity. In this book, I have tried to understand Core Competency both from an individual and organization standpoint and tried to raise issues which can be debated but not denied. Second half of the book is dedicated to the Art of Delegation - A subtle art needed to succeed at workplace for all Leaders but probably the one missing link even in that resulted in great Managers falling short of reaching their full potential. This Book will serve equally good for students, college pass-outs preparing to enter the world of work, working professionals in their early 30s and then all those who just want to have a primer or a reference book at their shelfs.
