Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Converts From Infidelity: Or Lives of Eminent Individuals Who Have Renounced Libertine
That many individuals possessed of rare talents, who have done honour to science, and signalized themselves in almost every department of human knowledge, are to be numbered among the advo cates and abettors of infidelity, is a fact too noto rious to be disputed. The names on the list of philosophical unbelievers, are neither few in num ber, nor despicable in point of rank, or variety of endowments. Neither is it to be denied that they have started ingenious objections, both with respect to the doctrines of the Bible, and the proofs by which they are supported. There is scarcely a single truth within the compass of inspiration, which they have not boldly ventured to impugn, or brought into question by their abstruse specula trons.
