Context and Conventions is a text for senior English students for the WA TEE English course. The book is based on the following principles:
- Examples of text construction which encourage readers to respond in particular ways
- Examples of the work they are being asked to produce
- Simple explanations of theoretical concepts
- An emphasis on the importance of intertextuality
- Reminder cards providing summaries of key learning points
- Case studies: stimulating and engaging examples of required text types, these include passages for study and analysis relation to the chapter
- Each unit provides a brief introduction on the text/topic to be examined, e.g. Autobiography
- Reminder cards - summaries of key information. These pop up randomly throughout the chapter
