This book reflects the vast range of responses and cultural approaches to a unique architectural challenge-The design of Indira Gandhi national centre for the arts [IGNCA], a sprawling cultural complex that will cover a 10 hectare site in New Delhi. the international competition for the IGNCA design drew 194 entries from 37 countries and carried an award of Rs. 10,00,000. Presented here ae approximately 50 of the proposals, of which the first five prize-winning entries are set forth in some details. The selection was made by an eminent architect A.P. Kanvinde, a former student of Walter Gropius at Harvard and a mamber of the IGNVA jury.
