Publisher's Synopsis
This dictionary is a completely revised and expanded edition of the "Dictionary of Petroleum Technology" and it has nearly 70,000 entries. While editing and updating the dictionary, the compilers have drawn upon the latest contemporary literature and searched many specialized databases, including those of the American Petroleum Institute, the University of Tulsa and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique.;A useful feature of this dictionary is that many entries are supplemented by brief explanatory definitions or comments in italics. Oil exploitation, production, shipping, refining and conversion into an ultimately vast variety of commodities and the associated trade and environmental aspects constitute a multidisciplinary sphere of activity. Each of the many branches of science, engineering and technology that are involved brings to it its own rich usually highly specific, dialect and terminology. In all those fields, this encyclopedic dictionary should be of assistance to translators, or readers of texts on oil-related topics.
