Publisher's Synopsis
This is the first edition (editio princeps) of the two ancient books of an astrological compendium transmitted under the name of Rhetorios, who probably lived in the early 7th century. The work is of great significance not only for the history of astronomy and astrology in Antiquity but also for the reception of ancient astronomical knowledge in the Byzantine period. A second and final volume is in preparation: this will contain the so-called Epitome of Rhetorios, which originated at various times and in various regions.
