Heated-air grain dryers are used on many farms and at most grain elevators in the Midwest. Field shelling of corn places a heavy seasonal load on these drying systems because most of this com has to be dried before it is acceptable for market or storage.
Many attempts have been made to speed up grain drying processes. Grain dryer capacity can be increased by using higher drying air temperatures, but the quality of the dried grain is generally lowered.
