Publisher's Synopsis

ABSTRACT The present study proposes to examine whether the three groups of college students viz. flourishers, languishers and moderately mentally healthy differ significantly on achievement related variables. A sample of 200 (100 girls, 100 boys) college students between the age group of 19 to 21 years participated in the study. The scales used in the study were Mental Health Continuum- MHC-SF (Keyes, 2005), Domain general measure of implicit theories (Dweck, 1999), the Achievement goal Questionnaire (Elliot & Mc Gregor), Procrastination scale (Tuckman, 1991) and Self control scale (Tangeny et al. 2004). ANOVA and Dunnett's Post HOC tests were the measures used to analyze the data. Results revealed that students classified as flourishers, relative to those classified as moderately mentally healthy or as languishing, were more likely to endorse mastery approach goals, incremental beliefs and report high self control.
