Excerpt from Communication, Citizens' Municipal Association to the Sub-Committee of the Joint Committee of Finance and Gas of Select and Common Councils of the City of Philadelphia: October 1, 1897
Notwithstanding that your Committee, more than two weeks ago, invited the public to express their views on the question of the suggested lease of the Gas Works, the Citi zens' Municipal Association have deferred taking any action in the matter until all the propositions now before you should be examined. The Association, as well as the general public, were unable to procure Copies of those propositions until the last meeting of your Committee, and they now avail them selves of the earliest Opportunity consistent with the examina tion of the various propositions, to set before you their views.
