By what are known as synthetic products are meant those products which are obtained from a natural base by chemical treatment or by com bination of one or more organic or inorganic chemicals to produce the aromatic or odorous bodies. The resulting combinations are more or less contaminated with impurities. These are removed by purification and it is on the care and skill with which this purification is si fected that the quality and odor value of the synthetic depend.
