Publisher's Synopsis
Our story starts out with a young man named JD Cofield. It's 1865 and the civil war has ended. JD has returned to his home town of Decatur Alabama to find it had been devastated by Union Troops. The town has been burnt down and with only a few structures remaining, including the church JD had attended. Before the war, JD was planning on being a preacher and had preached at the local church. As for a lot of men in those days, the war changed their lives. JD moved west, working as a cowhand and had traveled the Chisholm Trail many times pushing cattle. This is where he meets a man named Ned McAlester who will become a lifetime friend JD Cofield and Ned McAlester embark on a lifetime of adventure serving as Sheriffs and US Marshals.
