Publisher's Synopsis
Is it an addiction to caffeine or an excitement for life from the vantage point of a twenty-six year old man, that's fuelling this collection of poetry and prose? Ultimately it's my excitement for the person I could be that lies at the heart of my musings as I come to grips with the challenges of love and life, in between the injections of coffee. It's my excitement that, if chaos is the baseline to existence, then these pages could be the footnotes in my effort to lessen that: for me, my friends, my family, my community and beyond.A cross between the poems of Leonard Cohen 'Book of Longing', Charles Bukowski 'Love is a Dog from Hell', and Frank O'Hara 'Lunch Poems', these pages are my efforts to lessen my suffering as I look for order within a common chaos. From the torments of commitment to the pangs of lost love, indifferent love and a search for purpose, I write about a night in the city, a shower with music blaring across the hills and a beating heart that's faster than the movements of time.
