Publisher's Synopsis
A desperate search begins--When a fabulously wealthy Venetian patron of the arts disappears on the opening day of her new Paris gallery, her friends immediately set out to find her, following clues that take them from the boulevards of Paris to the canals of Amsterdam, where a grim discovery awaits them: a brutally murdered book dealer and a stolen 13th century Gnostic bible. From there the trail takes them to the cobblestone streets of Prague and a mysterious safe house in Berlin where they find an Italian masterpiece believed to have been destroyed during the Allied bombing of the city. Their search takes a bizarre turn when a GPS-enabled photo appears on the Internet, purporting to be the long-lost Mandylion--an image of Christ supposedly created during His lifetime. With this, an intriguing pattern of clues begins to emerge--clues that finally lead them to a secretive group of men known as the Pentacle Society.
