Excerpt from Cockayne of Ashbourne Hall, Co. Derby; And Pooley Hall, Co. Warwick
From Sir Aston Cockayne, who sold the property, the Hall passed into the possession of the family of Boothby, baronets, and so continued nearly two hundred years; until the death of Sir \ villiam Boothby in 1846, when it was sold as directed by his will. It afterwards became the-property of Captain Holland, r.n. It has been considerably improved by its present owner, Robert Hayston Frank, Esquire, into whose possession it passed, by purchase, on the 27th day of February, 1861 d by this gentleman all traces of its by-gone history, antiquity, and ancient associations are faithfully preserved.
The Cockaynes were for many years lessees of the Vicarage of Ashbourne, under the Dean of Lincoln.
