Publisher's Synopsis
There is a growing need in the South-East for construction aggregates which cannot all be supplied from local sources. An option is to develop large surerquarries in remote coastal locations (UK and overseas) and for aggregates to be transported by sea to the South-East. In the late 1970s there was little industry enthusiasm for this idea. However, since the commencement of a superquarry in Western Scotland interest has increased. Therefore this report assesses the need and potential for superquarries in South-East England and looks at possible locations and the likely environmental impact.
