Publisher's Synopsis

Transport features of the Isle of Man is the collective title for a series of books presenting a photographic record of various modes of transport to, from and in the Isle of Man as recorded by a number of writers living, on the island and seen from an island perspective. "Coastal Shipping of the Isle of Man" presents a pictorial record of the changes that have gradually taken place in the shipping scene around the island since the Second World War to the present day. The author of the book is well known for his photographs of shipping and here he brings together many photographs that have never been published before. They present an unusual insight into the way that goods have been carried to the island that is so often completely taken for granted. There is another side to the photographs insofar as they also present a visual record of many of the changes in the infrastructure surrounding the island's harbours and a way of life that has changed dramatically over the period under review.
