Publisher's Synopsis

The earliest surviving record of the Founders' Company is a petition in Norman French in which the 'Good Men of the Mistery of the Founders of the City of London' submitted their Ordinances to the Mayor and Aldermen. The petition was granted in 1365 and the newly-elected Master of the Founders, John de Lincoln, was presented to the mayor. The Founders consisted of craftsmen making candlesticks, stirrups, spurs and buckles, and working in brass or an alloy called 'latten'. Since then the Founders' Company has made its mark and is still active.
