The aim of this book is to examine how the economic and political restructuring of Europe is reflected in urban and regional development. In particular, it focuses on the impact of the globalization of economic activities and the debate about regulating frameworks. Contributors examine the question at a variety of scales from the international to the local and a strongly theoretical context produces new insights on the dynamics and likely future structure of European economy. The role of cities as "technopoles" is specifically examined.
