Christian science is much more than a peculiar type of medical theory and practice. It presents itself in the character of a distinct religion no less than does Mormonism, which it strongly resembles both in the scope of the prophetical function assigned to the founder and in the employment of a concentrated money power in the interest of propagandism. It is in this character of a distinct religion that Christian Science is examined and judged in the present essay, though, of course, its boasted healing art is so much of a factor in the religion that it must be accorded some attention.
