Though the number is still small, relatively speaking, the greatest advance in the past five years has been made in reach ing the educated mass - scholars, students, and in many cases officials also. The great question for the West is: Shall China set in Christian or in pagan or materialistic moulds? In my judgment the Christian Literature Society for China, with the good work of which I have long been familiar, is one of a few agencies which is in a position to do much to answer that question in the only right way.
