Publisher's Synopsis

Scroll below for a video rendition of the score as played in Finale. This advanced arrangement for Brass Quintet and Organ is intended to be used as a stand-alone feature work or to accompany congregational singing. Following a brass introduction, two verses of the hymn are introduced in a straight forward manner in Concert C Major following the hymn as it would appear in a United Methodist Hymnal (#302). The third and fourth verses contain flourishes from the brass. A modulating interlude introduces the fifth and final verse in Concert Key of D Major, followed with a short, rousing ending. For contrast, brass could be directed to be tacet on the second, third, or fourth verses as determined by the conductor.Perhaps the most recognizable hymn associated with Easter, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" first appeared in 1739 under the title "Hymn for Easter Day" in Hymns and Sacred Poems by Charles and John Wesley. The hymn became popular in the Church of England around 1780. It is well-known today for its repetitive "Alleluias" at the end of each line of verse. This arrangement will create a stirring and inspiring start to any Easter celebration or worship service.
